Many providers in Alaska recently received a letter with incorrect information regarding payment for Physician and Non-Physician Professional Services. A corrected letter is being sent to these providers.
Here is the text of the corrected letter. Please note this applies only to Physician and Non-Physician Professional Services in the state of Alaska:
This letter is in response to the notice to providers you received regarding a change in the way the Department of Veterans Affairs reimburses for health care claims for certain outpatient services effective February 15, 2011. The letter stated VA will begin using the following Medicare Prospective Payment Systems and Fee Schedules: Ambulatory Surgical Center, Anesthesia, Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule, Hospital Outpatient PPS, and End Stage Renal Disease and will continue to use the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.
This letter was not intended for Alaska Physician and Non-Physician Professional Services providers; you were erroneously included in the distribution. We apologize for this mistake and any confusion the letter may have caused. VA will continue to pay for Physician and Non-Physician Professional Services according to the VA Alaska Fee Schedule.
We are updating our web site, www.nonvacare.va.gov/pricing.asp, to clarify that the pricing changes do not apply to Alaska providers. Should you have additional questions, feel free to contact us at NFPOMedicareInquiry@va.gov.
We apologize once again for the error; thank you for your continued partnership in helping VA meet Veterans needs in the state of Alaska.
